FEMALE PIERCINGS

LABIA MINORA and LABIA MAJORA
Historically speaking, labia piercing are the female equivalent of male foreskin piercing. Having been a means of assuring female chastity, this piercing has been used by many cultures. For many modern women, labia piercing are not performed to restrict intercourse, but, to enhance erotic feelings.

The labia minora (inner lips) are the hairless, wrinkled, often darker pigmented lobes of skin which fringes the vagina. They are one of the most popular female genitalia piercing, because they are thin, relatively easy to pierce and heal quickly.
The labia majora (outer lips) form the exterior of the vulva. They can be pierced anywhere along their length., however, the further to the bottom or back of the vulva area can cause discomfort while sitting. The outer labia is thicker then the inner labia and generally takes longer to heal.

CLITORAL HOOD
The clitoral hood is the thin hood of skin that covers the clitoris. This particular piercing can be done either horizontally or vertically depending on the persons anatomy.
The more common of the two is the vertical. This type of piercing is traditionally done when the hood completely covers the clitoris. The optimum jewelry for this piercing is a captive bead ring as it will have more contact (think stimulation) with the clitoris then the horizontal.
The horizontal hood piercing is done when the hood does not completely cover the clitoris. This piercing is placed so that when completed it will only go through the shin of the hood in front of the clitoris with the bead of the ring rubbing directly on the clitoris.

TRIANGLE
This piercing is very similar to the horizontal hood piercing in looks, however, the piercing goes behind the clitoris and stimulates it from behind. This is a very stimulating piercing and a person may have it in combination with either hood piercing.

FOURCHETTE
A very stimulating piercing done at the bottom end of the vagina. It is situated where, if when delivering a baby and the woman is unable to dilate enough to deliver. Although this is a relatively new type of piercing, it is not comfortable for many women.

CLITORIS
Although there are many women in the world who would love to have their clitoris pierced it is not an easy piercing to do.
Generally, unless the woman’s clitoris is of significant size it is not recommended. It is not recommended because if it were not of significant size permanent damage could occur to the nerve endings of the clitoris.

PRINCESS ALBERTINA.
This a very advanced piercing and is not very common. The piercing is done inside the vaginal area, where the urethra is located. The piercing which is very similar to the male Prince Albert piercing is designed to stimulate the urethra.
